March tba: Bird Watching on Sailing Barge Victor in the Walton Backwaters

May 8th: West Mersea Day. The mystic arts of knotting, whipping and dowsing by Keith Paull, and Mini Steam Engines by Mike. Meet at Mike and Mary's, 34 St Peter's Road, West Mersea @ 11 a.m. At 12.30 p.m. move for pub lunch. Then walk & back to M & M for more talk and tea. Ring M or M on 01206 382675 by May 1st.

May 29-31st: IAGM Oban. See Signals and Arthur-ransome.org.

June 12-13th: Swamazons Camp at Walton and Frinton YC with Nancy Blackett, Ragged Robin and Old Gaffers Association. Swallows and Amazons Dinghy Race round Swallow Island; Model boat race. Contact the OGA organizer: Pete Elliston (01206 391870) for camping and to make bookings or for advice on B&Bs, etc.

June 19-20th: Rutland Water Weekend. Weekend of Ransome activities for families at Whitwell Centre (camping, cycling, sailing, BBQs etc). Rescue boat services provided! Contact Judy Taylor 01536 481895 by June 12th.

July 10th: Oulton Broad Day. Opportunity to sail your and other's dinghies. Meet at 10.30 am at Ian & Penney Northover-Smiths (5 Ice House Quay, Commodore Road, Oulton Broad, Lowestoft, Suffolk, NR22 3QU; 01502 560926) Bring packed lunch. Tea provided.

September 11th - 12th Maritime Woodbridge

October 2nd: Broads Sailing Day From Martham. Meet 9 a.m. Sail and raft up for lunch @ 1 p.m. Return to Boat-yard by 4.30 p.m. Bring packed lunch, drinks, matches, cloth & tea-towel. Hot drinks can be made on board. Cost about £20 per head; juniors £5. To book send deposit of £10 (made out to TARS East) to John Holmes (Greys Paddock, Maldon Road, Kelvedon, Colchester, Essex, CO5 9BD) by 25th September; balance on day to John (01376 570982; 07905 121848; john@tarseast.co.uk). Followed by BBQ or meal together.

October 16th: Literary Day. United Reformed Church Meeting Room, Whiting St, Bury St Edmunds IP33 1NR. 2 pm to 6 pm. Coffee, tea and biscuits provided. Cost about £10 per head; £5 for juniors . Programme includes Christina Hardyment, and an opportunity for members to bring along their favourite books/passages. Possibility of meal together afterwards. November 20th: Regional AGM @ Pin Mill Sailing Club. Gather 11am onwards for slides, coffee and chat. 12.15 pm Lunch at Butt & Oyster. 2 pm: Talk:- Brian Hammett on "Retracing Racundra's Third Cruise”. 3.15 pm: Regional AGM; 4pm: Tea and Rattletraps.
